Is your heart on fire for God?

  • GAO_heart_series

We are going to continue talking about the heart in this post as it is so important to understand ways to check ourselves to make sure we are right in the eyes of our Father. Like if we ask ourselves if we love God, what would your answer be? Would you say of course we love our Lord? Well let me ask you how are you treating your friends and family? Are you showing them love everyday? Are you forgiving them in a daily basis without keeping track of their faults? See, if we say we love God but we don’t love our neighbors then we are lying to ourselves. To love God is to love others so if your heart is right with God then you won’t have a problem loving your neighbors.

How do we know if we have a good heart?

The easiest way to test this is to ask yourself if you have ever lied in your past. The answer to this question is yes, we have all lied in our past. The reason to ask this question is because you’re lying comes out from your heart not from your tongue; even though they are connected. What you think about is usually what you talk about. So it is better to pray to God to soften our hearts and restore us completely then to just pray to contain our tongue.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Romans 10:10

In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.
James 3:5-6

Confessing Heart

Confessing our faults is also a good way to check and see if we are people after God’s own heart. First of all, we shall all know that we have a wicked heart, and a propensity for a sin nature. The bible itself says that every man has a wicked heart. The only one that has a clean heart is Jesus Christ. When you accept Christ as your Messiah and Savior, God starts to work in transforming your heart into a brand new one, filled with His Holy Spirit. You are then anointed with power from above.

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?
Jeremiah 17:9

Having an understanding heart

Understanding who God is and His everlasting mercy is something that could help us overcome our worries. Try not to let the struggles of this world become yours, be in the world not of the world. Letting satan put worries into our hearts is not good. Instead we should have a Spirit filled, trusting and loving heart that will help you glorify The Lord. This could include financial worries, relationships, trusting issues and so on. Instead cast all your worries to the Lord. The one and only that can help you overcome them and put you back on your feet after times of struggles.

How ready your heart needs to be?

See many people are waiting for perfection before making the change to Christ. They think that you need to first believe, then change on your own before coming to give your life to the Lord. Instead we should believe in the one God sent to save us from our sins, trust God so He can work and transform our hearts, not us but the Lord will make that change that will transform our nights into days, our darkness into sunshine. Only God and the power of the Holy Spirit can make you new. So don’t wait around and try to fight your struggles on your own. You will not win but you will fall even deeper and deeper. Depression has no power over you, alcohol has no power over you, addictions have no power over you. Because when the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.

A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
John 8:35-36

Are you willing to give up your hard hearts and stubborn ways
and let God break you by the power of His Holy Spirit?

Are you getting fed the word of God in a way that is making an impact on your friends and family around you? Are you going to be ready to share the gospel to people around you? Well we must be dedicated to read and study the bible in a daily basis. Coming to Christ is great but would you do more for the kingdom of God? Reading, learning, understanding, digesting, and sharing or teaching the gospel is the next level up in our Christian walk. If our foundation is very well set and ready to go then when the devil comes and attacks you with spiritual warfare then you will be okay but if you are not ready when the Jordan overflows, you will be taken out. There is no need for that if we prepare ourselves and equip our minds and bodies with the armor of God to fight against satan’s lies and tricks then little by little the devil and his tricks will get defeated.

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11

Having a careless heart

When we come to learn about Salvation is very important to make the switch right away. Let’s not be lukewarm Christians that have one foot in and one foot out. In other words, having enough to be happy and just enough to also be miserable. When you have one foot in and one foot out of the water then have you notice that you can’t run? That is because you can’t have light and darkness in your heart at the same time. So when you have been redeemed by the power of the Holy Ghost, people around you will see the change in you. You will be a different person all together that will bring joy and will shine for the glory of God everywhere you go. So your old ways will stay behind, your ungodly music will stay behind, your worldly pleasures will stay behind, your unforgiven heart will be new, your social life circle will be shifted in a way that you WILL understand what places is okay to hang around and what places is better to stay away. You will have a heart that will care for what others feel. Never you will try again to hurt others but you will be careful with your words to try to uplift the people around you and help them by praying for them and their needs.

In Summary

As we study together a few more points about our hearts we discover that we need to be forgiven, loving, caring, and ready when the enemy comes to attack us. Don’t let anyone pull you back from where you came from by getting you angry and don’t get easily offended by people that expect you to be perfect just because you are a believer. We must understand that we are imperfect beings that are perfect only when we are in the word of God and have Christ within us. Let’s not get overwhelm by the worldly pleassures and busy life that we won’t have time to attend your local church service and read the bible so you can grow in the understanding of God’s perfect will for your life. When you are ready, share the good news with the ones around you. As they get close to our Heavenly Father, love them and help them with whatever you can. Don’t be a vessel to continue their addictions and struggles but be a vessel for God to walk them away from sin and always keep your heart clean.
